Small improvements over the 1st generation. 5Ghz WiFi and the more flexible slightly longer integrated HDMI lead is nice.
Maybe specific to my home but the 1st Gen. Chromecast interfered with Freeview on my GVA brand TV. The 1st Gen. Chromecast had to be turned off while watching Freeview on that TV to stop the interference, however the 2nd Generation Chromecast does not cause that problem which is great.

Ok, faster wifi connectivity than its predecessor.
Have tried to run this through the MHL connector to avoid USB Power, but then experience poorer reception

The best thing that happened mankind since sourcream chips!
Probably the most affordable I purchased. Use daily to send all types of media to the TV while checking everything smoothly with the mobile. After some initial hassles that seemed to depend on the router works now, everything cleanly in all modes. The interface is flawlessly and switching between apps is quick and feels incredibly responsive.

The only thing that really pulls down the impression a little is that for some reason does not support 60 fps playback through the YouTube app. This is strange because the hardware supports 60 fps without problem in other apps and if you cast your phone screen, you can "cheat" it to run high framerate by Youtube in your browser. The problem then is that you can not do anything while watching. Very strange that Google has implemented this support in the YouTube app!

+ Total integration between the Internet, apps and TV
    Having trouble never +
    + Streamlined interface
    + Cheap!
    + Compact and discreet design

    - No support for 4K and 60 fps via Youtube app.

Great functionality. Do not understand why people buy smart tv when you can buy this instead. Only minus is sometimes when you lose contact between the phone and chromecast.

Bought it for Plex to my mother and play without any problems on the network, but it loses contact very often with Andriod phone / the iPad so you can not always stop what you look at and to sync if does not always work which is very annoying.

So if they can fix the problem, it would get the highest grade.

Bought the first generation chromecast a while ago and stopped using it almost immediately. It was incredibly tough at the start of example. Youtube clips, not at all a good experience, which I myself experienced as very annoying.

Bought today chromecast 2, perfect upgrade from the first generation.

Youtube clips which took 14 seconds on the first gen, including various lag, takes on the new three seconds and you are running. (Running at 5 GHz from the router now)

    Spotify works perfectly!.

Self, I use the power adapter that comes directly into the wall socket, so chromecast always online and ready to use. You can use the USB connection for example from the TV if available, but in my turns the power to the USB connector when the TV is turned off and you have to wait for the start of chromecast as soon as the TV is turned on.

If anyone is wondering if it's worth the upgrade from the first generation, so undoubtedly you should buy the new.

2015-10-11 need to update my review. I've tried to run at 2.4 GHz from the router (which many still have the sole solution) and notice no difference at all from 5 gigahertz, so it is a nice upgrade from Google. Must say it is the neatest solution for streaming available, and inexpensive addition. Brilliantly that streaming runs directly from the Web and not from your phone or pad. The battery is not affected on the devices you use, and you have your phone or tablet as a remote control.

    Absolutely perfect !.

Must update my review today 2016-11-18

Some have trouble running via the routers that perform badly (there are many) CHANGE ROUTER!. Furthermore, it should all be clear that the chromecastenheten can not be blamed for the applications it supports. One example is the TV4 play time of writing the latest update 2016-11-18 works extremely bad, but this will be resolved very soon, later sometime act badly to be addressed by the app developer. Chromecast is a device that Google made that since some apps are standardized. If tv4 makes a bad update for its app, so you can not complain about the Chromecast, which I think is absolutely perfect and the most affordable gadget I bought.

Incredibly good product. Use it to stream everything from the computer to the TV.

The only negative was that it was a little awkward to stream movies on your computer (AVI, MKV, etc.) to the TV. I had to install the Google Chrome addon (Video Stream for Google Chromecast) to do it, which of course is not optimal. Works very well when you have added addon however.

Bought the first one to make an old TV into a "smart TV". When I bought a new (and bigger) so-called "smart TV" LG I quickly realized that Chromecast could do some good there too.
It's much easier to use Chromecast and the plate than trying to navigate them built-in apps with the remote control. And really, I see no point in apps built in TV (all about being able to charge more), one could just as easily bought a screen (in principle), and connected a Chromecast.
The apps have been anyway in tablet or phone. The apps in the TV teaches's not going to update in a few years anyway.
Chromecast does its job superbly. Happens, however, that it loses contact and to connect again (therefore minus one star).
It also supports "only" HD quality (if there is a problem - which it might not be on TV is less than 65 ").
But for just 400: - this is a given purchase.

Blurred image when casting desktop. Youtube works great. Their support claims that it will use the 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz and then I lose half the speed.

Google Chromecast has been a revolution in how we watch television at home with us. Instead of a box where you need to install the app and you have all the apps on their phone. These then sends instructions to the Chromecast about what to play, without any app install the Chromecast. No annoying remote to attempt to control by, and avoids old apps "smart TV" that quickly abandoned with no new updates.

Works great on my wireless! Streams 1080p from Plex, with the phone as a remote control. Above expectations, but there are three negative things that I think is a pity:

    negative:
Google has not opened up its API for the PC, or something like that, so you have to use Chrome to cast the net on your PC.

Spotify on your computer can not be cast directly, but this must be done with your mobile as an intermediary.

The settings for the background images to display works poorly. Pulp standard images are displayed even though everything is off except for the image I want to show.

A cruel little gadget! Too bad I did not acquired the former.

+ Very small, smaller than I thought
+ Easy installation, took only a minute
+ Mass apps have a Cast button that makes it very easy to cast
+ The video starts almost immediately
+ Very good sound and picture
+ A funny thing is that if I want to cast such as Spotify to start my Samsung home theater system automatically and the correct input is selected. Himla smooth!

Can not think of anything yet. Maybe Google Home app is a bit mushy and messy ...

Streaming Netflix, svtplay, Spotify, etc. works well and it is very easy to use any phone or tablet as a remote control. To mirror a mobile screen to Chromecast works well - even if it is not the main use of Chromecast.
Streaming movies from a computer is preferably done by a To install the Plex Media Server on your PC and then run the Plex app on your phone as a remote control.

Compared with the first generation chromecast so is this second generation of noticeably faster to start movies and have much better wifi reception.

The only downside is that it needs to access the Internet, even to stream files from your mobile phone or local computer. The reason is that downloading the mini-apps that run in the Chromecast for Netflix, etc.

Bought one yesterday for my main TV, time to leave the Samsung Smart Hub's tough Viaplay and Cmore app behind and cast instead which is much smoother.
Faster than the 1st gen and do not forget to set 50Hz in Google Cast becomes the sport not so shaky experience :-)

Very clever thing! Make your TV into a Smart TV.
    You need:
    - A good TV with HDMI port.
    - A good wifi.
    - A good smartphone.

Then do Chromecast rest and it works great! Everything on the mobile screen can be shown on television.

    Very affordable for 390 SEK.

The people who complain that the poor are most likely for bad TV, wifi or smartphone. Chromecast can not solve the problem.

Just as buggy as its predecessor. Went to play three Youtube videos, then hung it up, and now playing it upside more despite the restart of both phone and Chromecast and are on the same WiFi. Stands ready to cast both on Chromecast and Youtube, but then stands only and charges. Sigh...

Windows plate (standard Windows 10) to Google Chromecast. With the new update to Google Chrome (since yesterday) makes it no longer possible to "cast" to Chromecastern satisfactorily. Swedish support could not help -> sent on to India (?) -> Get declared it to be so with the new update. One solution may be to restore the previous version ...

It seems to have fallen update ... So now it works (in the evening the day after the problem occurred)

Incredibly smooth, fast, good picture, cheap! In addition, high-quality feel. Truly a hit and a demonstration what can be done in a nice way with simple means.

Had no Gen1 so I can not compare. But from what I read so Gen2 is a substantial improvement in many areas, not least with the AC network.

Stream most YouTube, makes playlists from my Samsung tablet as a remote control.
Viewing is also a part of HBO Nordic. And sometimes SVT Play.

It is a real boost compared to gene 1. Above all, it is more stable, and to me that hung TV on the wall so the new HDMI connection much better if I have HDMI jacks straight out backwards from the TV.

Use it to stream Viaplay from the plate, and it works really well. But yesterday I learned another thing, via Chrome (my iMac) open up Plex and send local films (including MKV) to CC! Worked really really good!

Recommends buying any day of the week! Turns ATV2 / 3 days a week when even Apple's products work with CC. Do not compare with ATV4 then I think it is in a completely different price range and also to some extent is a different type of product (more on par with the computer) that offers more opportunities in the form of such apps.

I threw out my old chromecast and linked into this today. Worth every penny for myself!
+ No lag / micro lag when I stream high-definition movies that I had problems with my last (probably because it can connect to the network with ac)
+ Go at least twice as fast to open apps (Youtube / Twitch / SVT Play tested so far)
Smoother + form factor (at least based on my needs)
+ Crazy cheap if you look at what the device is capable of

Easier to use that device to stream movie + goodbye HDMI cable over the floor!
Get Plex Media Server to stream the movie from your computer to it ..
Not as störigt when to watch YouTube clips. Where was the last generation painfully annoying ...

Do both first and second generation chromecast. There are two main improvements in the new version 5.1 audio and Spotify support. It is also faster in every way. However, there are some problems remain, these appear to be soft from which sponsored conditioned 95% of the time. Apps that believe that contact with chromecast is broken, and turns off the ability to pause / skip etc. the connector is running. Likewise vice versa apps believe that the connector is running though it is broken.
All of these issues are addressed to finish casting / app and immediately cast about.
On the whole a really smooth gadget that gets and has gotten better.
