I was looking for a speaker system with small speakers but still sounds ok. I have gone from a Paradigm package with floor speakers to a system with Dynaudio Audience 42 but now felt that I wanted a system with smaller speakers, which would fit in a normal living room decor without standing out. Thought I did not care as much about the sound nowadays without it, after all, is the film itself that matters (the system would be used for 95% movies) so I started looking at pretty cheap system. KEF 2005 seemed popular and sounded great, very dynamic and crisply sound, worked well to play loud with. However, the dialogue a little burkig. KEF3005 was pretty similar but actually a bit less detailed and still burkig dialogue. Next was the Mordaunt-Short Alumni, this was the sound in great detail but I lacked midbass and pressure in the sound. These systems were relatively cheap and it seemed that we nonetheless needed up a bit in price range. Listened to B & W M1 and was not at all impressed. Detailed and pretty good sound when played softly but when raised a little, it was very muddy. Very odynamiskt audio additionally already we lower volumes. Next package was Focal Dome and directly when the first notes were played, I was impressed. My girlfriend who has no interest in hifi / home theater, at least when it comes to gadgets immediately said, "This all sounds great" and it really made it. Very big sound, very detailed, clear and dynamic. No problem to play loud either, still good separation and dynamics. Bought them the day after and are extremely satisfied. In order to come up with something negative, it is that there is no bit in the bass range. Drove them with my SVS Subb and then you discover that there is more to gain in the bass than the Focal-sub can handle. Also, the base is not as detailed. One might wish for a bit more pressure in the sound from the small speakers and maybe the system is low in most expensive team but it was also the best by far of the ones I tried.
