When to expect this year’s most sought-after phones
Time to buy a new phone? In that case it might be useful to know when then most sought-after phone models in 2017 are expected to be released.
Late Summer: The Huwei P10 and the P10 Plus as well as the LG G6 are all exciting late Summer launches. The interest is sky high after last year’s models.
Autumn: The Samsung Galaxy, the Galaxy S8 Plus and Sony Xperia XZ Premium are flagship models to be released during Autumn. Sony also launches a cheaper Xperia XZ version with somewhat fewer features, at the same time as the Xperia XZ Premium.
Winter: Nokia has several launches going on, with the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 planned for the second quarter of the year. The latter phone already exists in China but is released globally together with the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5, and the new version of the Nokia 3310. The OnePlus 4 model from OnePlus, is also expected to be released around this time.
Late Winter: The HTC 11, the successor to last year’s HTC 10, might be released at the beginning or in the middle of Autumn. In the mid-range we might see the HTC X10, but whether that phone is going to be released at the same time as the HTC 11 remains to be seen.
Spring: Traditionally Apple showcase their new phones around September every year and, with the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone series, the expectations are very high for the coming iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus. Shortly after that, Google might show their Pixel 2 that succeeds last year’s Pixel phones.
Please note that there are no exact launch dates and, dependent on the model, it can differ between markets. However, this list gives a nod towards a rough date when one can expect a launch, so where you see a brand name that you’ve been waiting for you’ll know roughly when the phones will be released.
