For a fourth consecutive year, we can reveal that online retailer, Mighty Ape, has been awarded the prestigious people’s choice Shop of the Year accolade – congratulations!

“Across the last 12 months, Mighty Ape has invested across operations, sales and customer services. We expanded our Auckland warehouse capacity, installing some shiny new machines - and we opened up additional distribution points in Wellington and Christchurch. This allowed us to get more products delivered faster across the country.

“We also expanded our household product range for everyday Kiwi needs. Following the Kogan group acquisition last December, we’ve been able to tap into additional resources such as greater buying power. This means we now have more value ranges available at great prices on our website – and this will continue into the future.”

“Throughout the 2021 lockdown, the Auckland delivery network faced unprecedented congestion with long delays and restricted courier collection. To offer a solution to this issue for our customers, we decided to launch our very own last-mile delivery service, called Jungle Express. At the time of accepting this award, this service is still in its testing phase, but will soon be offered on our website - so watch this space!

Founded in 1995, Mighty Ape was originally called GameZone and operated from a physical store located on Symonds Street, Auckland. In the very early days, only half a dozen people worked at the store but over time, the size of the business (and warehouse size) grew. Today, Mighty Ape has some 200+ staff members (300+ during Christmas), dispatching thousands of customer orders every day from its 10,000m² purpose-built distribution centre.
