Recently I moved into a new place and my existing set up of having my computer sit on a set of trundler drawers beside my desk doesn't work due to space. I'd like to go to an under desk solution but my desk lacks any form of tower stand. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do that don't involve simply chucking a piece of wood down on the carpet. It's my first home and I want to avoid the ghetto look if I can.

Antec P180 Mini, Asus Gryphon 787, Intel Core i5 4670K, 8 GB Corsair Vengence, Asus Strix GTX-970, 256 GB Samsung 830 SSD, 2 x Seagate Barracuda, AOC Razor 24 inch Monitor, Razer BlackWidow keyboard, Logitech G502, Razer Naga Molten Edition, Logitech G930 wireless headset.

Does your computer have a bottom intake? If not, just stick it straight on the floor (unless the carpet interferes with getting air out). But I'm guessing that it will have, and therefore that isn't really suitable... In which case it really depends on how much space you've got as to what would be suitable.

Of course you could have a fancy bit of wood, which would probably look fine.

throughout uni I used wood / cardboard below my PC. Now I just leave it on the carpet and have a PSU with a fan on the top (instead of below) and those easy removal dust filters that I slide out and clap between my hands once a month

Buy a cat.
Put the computer on the cat
This will be good revenge for all the cats that hop on computers
