    My biggest mistake was not reading these comments before purchasing from them. I ordered and paid for a WD drive but did not receive it. They would not answer my enquiries until I threatened a credit card charge back, then they came back to say that the drive was out of stock and offerred me several that were way more expensive. I then asked for a full refund and which they agreed to, except that I NEVER received a refund and had to resort to a credit card charge back in the end. This definitely has to be the worst experience that I have ever had with a PC store. I can see a complaint to the commerce commission here.

    If I were you guys, don't bother ordering from them.

    1) Their website makes a false statement for example I tried to order the GA-990fXUD7 from them and it's saying it's in stock so that why I tried ordering from them.

    2) Got a confirmation email saying they are waiting for my payment so I paid them.

    3) It's been a week and still I haven't heard anything I tried calling them and apparently their phone line doesn't work so I emailed them saying wheres the order i requested and they are giving me excuses saying there are trying to get from another stock warehouse and should come early next week.

    4) So I waited and still nothing. So I got tired of it and ask for a full refund and it took them 2 weeks for me to get a refund. All i hear from them is excuses and it shouldn't really take that long to get a refund.l

    Bottom line, no matter what you wanted get 'DON'T GET IT FROM THIS STORE!'

    I also wish I had read reviews about PC Gear Dunedin before giving them my money.

    They did not stock the item I ordered which is not a massive problem. Not answering phones or emails regarding a refund is. The only (sporadic) communication I had from them was to give me rubbish excuses as to why the refund was taking so long.

    2 months later Visa has reversed the transaction and I have my money back.

    Total frustration, time wasted and money wasted on overdue bank fees thanks to PC Gear Dunedin.

    Edit: Money refunded so I've increased rating slightly. They emailed several times to ask to have the rating improved.

    Wish I had read some of the earlier reviews on here before ordering. It turns out prices listed on their website are not actually correct! They emailed today to say they're not processing my order, after an order I made yesterday. Hope to have my money refunded asap, will not use again.
    Also their website was painfully slow to load anything.

    I ordered two Samsung external hard drives from this Vendor through their web site beginning of March -12, one week later I got an e-mail telling me the drives are not in stock and there is no ETA on them (it clearly stated they where in stock ready to ship). I ask to have my money refunded and I was promised a refund. Four weeks later there is no refund, they don't answer their phones. It finally took my credit card company to reverse the charges and all the hassles that go with that.
    I'm not judging anybody here only stating facts and hopefully no one else has to experience what I did. It seams I'm not the only one that had a nightmare with them should have read the reviews that's what they are for!

    I purchased a Netcomm modem. It was not available at usual retailers but I have successfully used them for many years and they are recommended by my ISP. Saw them available at this Dunedin mail order company and as I live in Dunedin and the price was good, ordered at 1.30pm. Was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived at my door just after 7pm the same day.

    I placed an order for a MSI video card with PC Gear. They were very helpful in trying to source this card as there were limited stock at the time.

    Upon certain events that were out of PC Gear's control, their supplier was out of stock after the fact that I had placed the order. What makes PC Gear great is that they went out of their way to source another card to fulfill my order. Their constant communication kept me in the loop through the whole process. And in my books that's true customer service.

    I'm happy with the card and very happy with PC Gear's service.

    I ordered a video card from these guys for our company in Auckland, as it was the only one I could find in the country at the time.
    It arrived in an acceptable timeframe and I was kept up to date with any new information about the order.

    Their service does beat some big players up here in Auckland so that says something.

    A++ Experience from this store. Had forgotten a b-day present and ordered later on Tuesday. inquired on a Wednesday to the status and received a prompt (real life) reply. Goods arrived Thursday. Fantastic price, and brilliant communication - I only wish there were more stores like this one on price spy - Highly recommended!

    There's some obvious underhanded activity from competition Dunedin stores in the reviews here. I suggest they take their bad habits back overseas with them.

    PC Gear has been around for years, and it certainly isn't 'dodgy'.

    Bought a printer from these guys. Their Web site showed a machine which was not available but they got back to me with another option which was fine. There was a glitch with delivery so they arranged for me to get my printer locally which was much appreciated. It all took a bit longer than I had hoped but they did come through and they did work through the glitches. I'd buy from these guys again in the future.

    They all arrived the next day.
    The technician knew his stuff and was very helpful , easy to talk too and gave very good advice.

    Reading though this the shop has been though some problems in the past, I'm glad things are looking up for them.

    Ordered 2 motherboards from these guys, I sent a follow up email which they replied to once payment was received and they sent the order off to their supplier....thing is their supplier said they had stock when they didn't. So I didn't get the boards when I expected.

    This is where the 9 stars comes from, at this point they could have said wait or it is the suppliers problem now, but one of the guys there when above and beyond on the customer service front found dome new boards, one email coming in to suggest a board at 20 past midnight on Sunday morning....truly dedication to work there,

    If this is the kind of service that PC Gear gives then I would shop there again.

    Gosh I wished I had used Pricespy!

    Being new to Dunedin, when I went looking for a PC supplier I happened to come across PC Gear. I ordered a new screen which I was informed should arrive at the shop in a few days. That was nearly 2 weeks ago and still nothing.

    Now the shop appears to be closed more often than it is open, and there is no response to email or phone.

    I would strongly recommend anyone contemplating doing business with PC Gear to THINK AGAIN!

    Terrible service. Avoid like the plague. Ordered and deposited 13 days ago and still nothing. Always excuses blaming suppliers or staffing - never offering to return money - despite me now asking for it.
    Will be contact police soon if they don't return money.

    Overall a very poor experience. Do NOT recommend this business. I placed an order and after 6 weeks it still had not shown up. No communication from PC Gear, I rung the store every week to check on the order and they always just said there was a problem with their supplier. Cancelled order and requested a full refund; waiting to get money back but will see if that happens. As per the other reviews this is a warning to not buy anything from this store, they are shocking.

    This store is useless, ran by people with no clues about IT in any such way - couple years ago they sold me a dodgy graphics card which I had to return, and lately they suggested a laptop to me for almost double the price elsewhere and said it was a good laptop for playing games on...

    Also, their physical store has nothing in it apart from a few cases which pretty much to me says they're scammers.

    Why would any business buy a physical store and put no stock in it, and have useless people working there...

    Not recommended, unless of course you like being scammed then go ahead!

    I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS EVER! WARNING! they are a scam, well atleast they make you feel conned out of your money!. I orderd a GTX470($600) from them 4 weeks ago, then they lie, lie, lie that there is suddenly a problem with their supplyier's, then they will never reply to your calls, emails, and getting your money back takes months obviously(maybee never). This is my experiance so far... And this has been the worst experiance of any "PRICESPY" recommended business so far. I feel that recommending this place as a "NEVER GOTO THIS STORE IN YOUR LIFE BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY!" is a fair comment.

    We bought a PC from PC Gear Dunedin last year in February. Delivery delay was 6 weeks and when we finally got it, it was only working for about 2 weeks. We had the motherboard and the graphics card replaced within the next 4 month and also got given 2 different Windows activation discs that both did NOT work. Our PC kept on shutting down and freezing and was not usable at all. The third activation disc finally activated Windows however our PC was still not working and the system kept on freezing and shutting down only minutes after we started the PC. The graphic cards fan was very noisy and although we complained about it many times, nothing has ever happened to fix that problem. After 6 month we asked for a full refund as the PC was still not working and we had to drop it back to the shop many times. PC Gear refused a refund because in their opinion we didn't give them the chance to fix the PC properly and according to the shop owner he could never find anything wrong with the computer and only replaced the motherboard and graphics card as precautionary steps. We took the computer to the ITS Help desk at the University of Otago so that a third independent person could have a look at it. The Manager there gave us a written confirmation that the PC is not working the way a new PC should work and that this is not acceptable. We contacted the Citizens Advice Bureau to help us out with the problems we had with PC Gear, however PC Gear still claimed that the PC was fine and we should give it back to them so that they could have another look at it. Finally, we lodged a claim with the Disputes Tribunal and won the case. Still, PC Gear wouldn't pay us out and we could not get hold of the shop owner at all. We contacted the collections unit and they sent out a bailiff to collect the money for us. We FINALLY received our money after 12 month of endless fighting to get the PC refunded. Thanks PC Gear for making our life so miserable during the last year. I'd have never thought that trading with a Senior Sergeant would be that aweful. Shocking!

    Ordered and paid for a laptop but as I had not received it after one month, cancelled the order and requested a full refund. Three months later have still not received a full refund from PC Gear. Slow to respond to email and did not return phone calls. Appalling customer service. Would never use them again and would not recommend to anyone.

    I some a case from this company, it wasn't available and they refused to give me my money back even though on their website they said they had it in stock. After a few months and having to open an account with Baycorp to try and retrieve my money they said that I could just order some other stuff from the site up to the value of the original purchase which I did and all they sent me was a mousepad. After a few more months and some tense emails I finally got my good. In all the process probably took 3 or 4 months and was the worst experience that I've had dealing with a store. Would highly recommend that people steer clear of this business.

    I had a really bad experience ordering from PC Gear Dunedin. These guys are completely useless and I don't recommend that anyone purchase from them. Here's what happened.

    Friday: Made order and paid by credit card so I could get it as quickly as possible. They didn't even process the order until the following day.
    Monday: Called hoping to get tracking details. Was told I'd be emailled them soon.

    Tuesday: Called again for tracking details as item had not arrived and never recieved an email. Was told I'd be emailed back within 10 mins.

    Wednesday: Called again. Was told a story about supplier sending something that went missing, and another item had now been sent. Given a tracking number which turned out to be false and didn't register with the courier at all. Later recieved an email admitting that nothing had been shipped, and saying the supplier gave the wrong levels. They were now trying a different supplier.

    Thursday: Told again that it was all the suppliers fault. I demanded a definite ETA or a refund. They said it would definitely be with me by Monday so I agreed to wait.

    Monday: Still no item or tracking info. It took until Tuesday to get a response. They tell me that still nothing has been sent. I demanded a refund ASAP.

    Do not go near these guys. I can handle some delays, but I hate being misled and that's all these guys do.

    After having an issue with their supplier PC Gear loaned me a brand new graphics card of equivalent value and specification to the item i had ordered, communication was good and item was personally delivered to my address once it had arrived at the store. PC Gear did the best that they could under the circumstances it is not their fault that their supplier did not ship the item in a timely fashion

    Communication was all good until money paid. Then heard nothing for several days. E-mails were ignored and phone messages were not returned. Eventually recieved wrong product. Couriered back at my own expense. Then again heard nothing. Not until got feed up with waiting and demanded refund did i finally recieve. Total time to delivery 7 weeks.

    Service and communication was very good. However I was initially sent the wrong product by their supplier. I had to pay $8 for couriering the wrong product back to them because of a mistake that their supplier made. Giving them benefit of the doubt this was probably not PC Gear Dunedin's fault because their supplier sent the wrong product, but still the purchase was not all smooth-sailing.

    Overall a poor experience. Initial communication was good, but after problems with their suppliers the communication was very poor, little effort from PC Gear to follow the issue up or communicate with me about it. Took 6 weeks and repeated requests to get a full refund after cancelling the order, would not deal with them again.
