Having dealt with Alpha City in the past, I was expecting their usual pretty good service. All their automated emails were as usual, but for some unknown reason, they took 2 days to dispatch my order after confirming receipt. This meant that instead of getting my order on Friday, I didn't get it until Monday: a whole weekend wasted. Worse, neither their sales nor trackandtrace emails are working: the 2 emails I sent chasing my order both bounced back with "Mail server for "alphacity.co.nz" unreachable for too long". A note to Alpha City: this is the 21st century. Requiring your customers to have to make a toll call to chase up a late order is unacceptable. Do better: there are plenty of others to take my business to. :(

After a promising start talking with "Eva" via their online chat system, where she confirmed that they had the item in stock and at the price listed on their website, things went completely pear-shaped from there. Not only did I have to chase them twice to see where the item that I had already paid for (by credit card, thankfully) had got to, but I was then informed that they DIDNT in fact carry the item in stock and wanted to charge me another $100 if I wanted to carry on with the order. Obviously, they were late to the party in realising how much the Thailand flooding had increased prices, and after (probably) lying about having the item in stock, discovered that their supplier had much higher prices that a day or so earlier. I was offered a full refund (which is only right, of course), but after 2 weeks of waiting and all my emails being ignored, I had 2 involve the Visa disputes team - which took care of things nicely. Fortunately, I had an email confirming the refund from Ideal, so that saved the day.
I would strongly recommend steering clear of these people, and I will not be putting any business their way again.

After placing an order I was informed that the price would be quadruple (4x) what was on the order due to it being "heavy". There is a "disclaimer" on the website talking about heavy items - one does not expect a 4x increase, however, and also expects a modern shopping cart to be able to know the weight of inventory during the process, not afterward. As it turns out, they didn't have the item in stock (despite showing it as in stock) & it was coming from their supplier, hence the high charge (which I maintain is too high regardless). This would all have been fine except for a conversation (started by them) by email over the subject during which they were very defensive & more interested in excusing the way their system works as anything, also insinuating that the price I quoted them for freight from Corporate Consumables was false & that I wouldn't receive the item from CC (which I already had, with invoice in hand to backup the price). Will not deal with again.

I have purchased from Ktech 3 times, with 2 fair results and one "not very good". While their website / ordering system is not too shabby, their consistency in treating orders is all over the map. Case in point: today I placed an order at 11:28 & paid by credit card. Having heard nothing back from them (a common problem with Ktech), I chased it up @ 4:55, to be informed that their order cut-off time is 11am! The short of it is: be very, very careful dealing with these people, and don't be in a rush for your stuff!
