An amazing drive; high performance and high capacity. Imported a couple of these from the UK (it was cheaper) 2 weeks ago.

These drives are very fast and (of course) high capacity. What impressed me most was that even though they are fast and large they run very cool and almost silent. I can best compare to a Samsung Ecogreen F2 1.5TB (of which I own 8). The Samsung has 3 platters spinning at 5400rpm while the Hitachi has 5 at 7200rpm. The Samsung has a reputation as a very quiet drive but the...   Read more

A very nice SSD (my first). Performs excellently as a boot drive in my PC.

Be warned this drive uses a micro-SATA (mSATA) interface so won't fit conventional cables. I got an adapter from Acquire (the only retailer that had them at the time).

Has all the features one would accept from a current-generation SSD; fast, low latency, low power, small and silent.

HP V1810-8G

Excellent switch. Silent, easy to set up yet has a wealth of management functions and features. Fast and reliable.

Would buy again but doubt I'll need to in the near future.

Playtech

Intelligent service and easy to use website. Free shipping is excellent too.

I ordered a HDD one afternoon. Later that evening I remembered I wanted a second for a RAID 1 set. I replicated the original order. I was impressed that Playtech realised they were to the same person and consolidated the order into one package.

Will buy from again. A top tier online supplier.

Acquire

Excellent service. Would recommend using their 0800 number for quicker assistance. I rang about a product that showed as out of stock. They checked with supplier and contacted me advising that it was available later that day. Ordered over the phone that day and received it the next morning (from Christchurch to rural Otago).

I was given a discount as my employer uses Acquire as a supplier. Their website also mentions discounts available for tertiary students, I'll look into this in future (as ...   Read more

A nice drive. Put a couple in RAID 1 for added performance and redundancy.

Runs quiet and cool. Performance is good, although the SATA 6Gb/s interface is unnecessary (the platters can't read fast enough to saturate a 3Gb/s connection). Should help cache performance a little I suppose.

Would buy again.

Good cheap RAM. Stable and works as advertised.

Performs just as well as RAM three times the price with massive heat-spreaders.

Not much else to say really. Will buy again.

A great motherboard in this price bracket. Perfect for general use.

All the features most of the population will ever want from a motherboard are included. Drivers are easily installed and work well with Windows 7 64-bit (this is not universal amongst computer parts).

The integrated graphics are capable for all tasks except gaming. For gaming this motherboard will be fine with a discrete grapics card.

The USB 3.0 features as a bundled PCIe 1x card, which seems a bit cheap. However it does wo...   Read more

A very affordable quad-core. Admittedly not as high performance per clock as Intel equivalents but is significantly cheaper.

The stock cooler is quiet enough not to be notieable in an average case.

Perfect for a low-cost general-purpose PC.

A nice cheap yet efficient PSU. Runs cool and effectively silent in an average case.

Would recommend to anyone building a low power or non-gaming orientated PC.

An excellent case for the price. Very impressed with build quality and features. Looks nice too.

It is small but the removable motherboard tray made building the PC easy. If you need to modify your computer often then a midi-tower is much more spacious.

AKG K 77

These headphones are excellent for the price. I bought them for monitoring in sound reinforcement applications but also use them for PC gaming and listening to music.

Very good, flat frequency response ideal for monitoring. They aren't up to the standard of AKGs' more expensive options but at $100 you are paying about 1/3 of the price for 3/4 of the performance.

As closed back headphones they cut out most external noise. They are very comfortable to wear for long periods and have enough twis...   Read more

An excellent mouse for anyone who uses theirs exclusively left-handed. The ergonomic shape really prevents it being used right-handed but it is very comfortable in the left hand. Much better than ambidextrous mice.

I find it performs very well in games (mainly shooters) as well as day to day tasks. Would buy again.

These are excellent speakers, the best I've owned. Currently using as computer speakers for everything from gaming to music editing.

The definition is amazing. The difference between high-bitrate MP3 (compressed) and FLAC (lossless) is audible. Also all software graphic equalizers sound worse than un-modified audio through these.

Would definitely recommend to anyone shopping for good computer speakers or affordable studio monitors.

HP ZR24w

This monitor has been criticised for being a cheap IPS panel (better colours, viewing angles, black levels than TN). Really it should be compared to the high end TN panels it is priced against. In its pricing segment it is by far the best monitor you can buy.

Excellent colours, viewing angles and black level (as expected with IPS). Perfect array of inputs. Very easy to use stand and on-screen display. Makes a great gaming, movie watching or graphic design screen.

PC Pacific

This stores order process is cumbersome. I purchased a pair of hard drives from them and was sent slightly different ones. They then sent me the correct hard drives and a self-addressed courier bag to return the others, I was impressed by this.
On requesting the production date of the i7 CPUs they are selling they replied within a couple of days. I then ordered my CPU and motherboard without hassles.
One of the hard drives I got from them has since failed (a manufacturing fault, not anything to...   Read more

Good service and rapid shipping. I'm very happy with my monitor purchase. Very hard to browse website, you need to know exactly what you are looking for.

Good service and free shipping. Website not quite as well laid out as Ascent and Computer Lounge. Will buy from again.

Great store. I was able to order a case they didn't have on hand and they got it in overnight for no extra charge. Excellent prices on case parts as well. Friendly staff and good service. Will be buying from again.

Expert Infotech

My experience with Expert Infotech was good, however it was a straightforward purchase so I cannot attest to customer service or warranty support.
I am disappointed that they appear to have written many of their own reviews (see the multitude of accounts all created on the same day that have never before posted and are all giving it 8-10 stars). I consider this dishonest and will not be buying from them again.

Good phone, all the features work well. Bought it from Telecom but it accepts my SIMs for Vodafone and 2degrees and can connect to their network. Keyboard is a little small for heavy texting.

Great case. Worth the price. Very well designed and put together. Beautiful in a minimalist way with that nice illuminated blue ring to add interest.
The removable motherboard tray made installation much easier.
Will be sticking with this case for quite some time.

This is a great PSU. The modular cabling makes it easy to install.
Supplies all the power required while gently wafting slightly-warmed air out the back. Is dead silent in pretty much all conditions. It's good having the peace of mind of a 5 year warranty too.

Performs well. Possibly not the fastest but runs cool and quietly. Will be buying a couple more (to add to my 3) to make a RAID 5 array.

Does everything expected of it. Doesn't overheat and is as stable as anything. Will buy more.

Alright, so I've been using this as workstation not a server but I have been doing so for over a month now and it is excellent. As user-friendly and nice looking as Windows 7 while being a powerful server operating system that has built in utilities to do pretty much anything you may want a server to do.
I've been using a beta version of Symantec Endpoint Protection for this OS and it's performing flawlessly too.

Simple, reliable laser printer that spits accurately printed sheets of paper at you fast.

There is no more comfortable keyboard to use. It's that simple.

This is a really good mouse. The symmetry is quite useful as I use it for both left and right mousing, depending on my mood.
The switchable DPI settings are actually quite useful (sniping in games etc). It's comfortable enough to use for long periods, could be a little heavier though.

Fantastic processor. Takes everthing that's thrown at it, can run innumerable threads and can be overclocked by more than 50%.
Very worth getting.

It would be nice if this monitor had Displayport like the new model HPs do. Such is the advance of technology I suppose.
This monitor is awesome. Being able to fit two whole A4 sheets on the screen side by side at 100% is really useful. It's refresh rate is easily fast enough for games and it's viewing angles good enough for watching movies.
The swivel/pivot/tilt/raise/lower function is smooth and allows really good positioning of the display.
I'm very happy with this screen.

Great graphics card. Absolutely destroys current games (120fps on 1920x1200 CoD4) and will no doubt be up to the challenge of DX11 ones when they arrive.
My only critisms are that it exhausts some heat into the case and the stock fan is a little noisy when it ramps up. I'll soon be watercooling this beast though so neither of those will be a problem.
Tempted to buy another and put them in CrossFire.

Great board. Easy to install and setup. The BIOS is really straightforward and makes overclocking easy. Very good overclocker with an i7-920. ExpressGate is quite handy too.
Little driver support for Windows Server 2008 R2 unfortunately so has to run the default Microsoft drivers. Should be fine with a mainstream OS. Pricey but LGA1366 motherboards are all round really.
Overall I'm glad I bought it.
