the ability to list hard drives by number of platters is great... there's just a small problem with western digital drives - they use the same model numbers for different sized platters. this is explained pretty well by this guy:
http://yertech.blogspot.com/search/label/H...20Model%20Lists
search for "western digital makes", which appears twice on the page
eg a wd3200aaks could have 2 160gb platters, 1 320gb platter, or a shortstroked 500gb platter (the site ^ linked doesn't list 160gb platter sata drives but ppl wanted to know how to get a single platter 320gb drive when 320gb platters came out and wd3200aaks was discussed quite a bit on tech forums)
wd5000aaks can be 2x250gb, 2x320gb, or 1x500gb
so you should probably remove western digital drives from the platter number search filter in certain cases where platter # is ambiguous, which would be quite a few of their models... wd6400aaks which reliably used dual 320gb platters and 4 heads have appeared in dual 500gb platter 3 head versions according to that ^ website, i guess you'd still call that 2 platter though.
wd7501aals just turned up in a 2 platter filter search, but it can be 3 320gb platter/5 head
another option would be to try and talk the retailers into telling you the full model number,
eg WD3200AAKS-00B3A0 = 320gb platter
WD3200AAKS-00M9A0 = 500gb platter
which would be legendary if even a few retailers would play along for the benefit of the few computer enthusiasts who care =]
respect for even trying it, i've spent hours trying to find out platter sizes for drives at times... i think the site i linked could help, good luck
ps: and for lga1156 you need to add the chipset options 3400/3420/3450
3400/3420 chipset page at intel.com
3450 chipset page at intel.com
some boards for example:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....name=LGA%201156
the 1156 3400/3420/3450 boards are nearly the same but support ECC with 1156 xeons (45nm quad core) and 32nm dual cores
