Title says it all, new digital camera, not fussed on DSLRs, should have 8x or more optical zoom, 12 MP plus, macro shot capable and around or under $300.
Did find these Canon ones, what are they like?

The reviews of them look reasonably good – although you will almost always have to give up something to improve something else, so it probably actually pretty good. Also remember, high optical zoom is usually achieved by having a shorter focal length at the wide angle end, rather than a longer focal length at the telephoto end.
