Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any noticeable difference between these two monitors?? I'm leaning towards the 53, which only has hdmi but seems to have a faster response time and a higher DCR (although in real life who cares, but could have better normal brightness). I want it as a versatile monitor that I can watch movies, play games and read text on. It's replacing my old Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, so either surely has to be better.

If anyone else thinks I should get another monitor just suggest one, I really should of just forked out the extra money and got one of the Dell Ultrasharp U2412M, when they were on special!

Cheers,
Sam

VA2448m-LED, is best of the two... in my opinion that is.

5ms is good enough response time for pretty much anything, unless you have multiple monitors :/

I personally have http://www.playtech....uctdetails.html which is a pretty decent monitor, but it's quite flimsy.

The main differences according to the data on PriceSpy is that the VA has a DVI port while the VX has an HDMI port, and that the VX is only 23.6" rather than 24" – although it is very possible (almost likely) that the latter number is actually the same as the first one.

Yeah, according to the specs there isnt that much difference. But there are pretty much no reviews on the VA2448, and quite a few really good ones on the VX2453, some regarding it as one of the best monitors for gaming of 2011. I might just get the VX2453, because the specs say it has a faster response time (2ms vs. 5ms) and has better brightness. Its a little bit more ($30), but will likely end up using it for gaming a lot more in the future (hence why I am sticking clear of a IPS screen for the moment until I feel a bit richer and have more of a use for it!). And when something doesn't have any reviews, I am going to learn my lessons from the past and steer clear, as I learnt from buying a Netgear wireless N router, that later turned out to be kind of useless for the extremely high price!

Wait for the U2412M to go on special again, it seems to happen every few months :)

A modern IPS is generally fine for gaming – they have roughly an 8 ms response time, and that is fine generally speaking – not to mention the response time isn't constant, but rather is strongly dependant on what level the cell is changing from and to, and IPS monitors are generally much better rated in this regard than others.
