And most of them don't use the forum! (Probably less than 100 do.)

(In NZ and most of the world a comma is used as a thousands separator. Europe uses a dot.)

Yeah 10,000 members is a huge number for the time the new site has been up really. Id like to see more people active on the forum, heaps to learn and contribute ;)

Perhaps if there was more promotion of the forum on the homepage? As far as I can see there's just the tab up the top and some top forum topics on the left (which isn't that noticeable)?

Another idea would be to have a forum link for each product - a place where people can go to discuss individual products (not just give feedback)? The link could point you to a forum search with that product's description as the search query?

There are a lot of ways to promote the forum - and it could really add a lot of value to the Pricespy website.

Nice idea – a forum thread on the product. The threads would have to be categorized suitably, too.

I really like that idea. I will look into this further and see if this fuctionality in the froum could be done. I strongly believe we must promote our forum a lot more and this is something PriceSpy is working on doing for the very near future. I do feel that 10 000 members on the forum is a very respectable amount of users. But we do need those members to me much more active.

Many thanks for posting your idea.

Just as an addition to the above idea - it would also be nice to have similar links for product categories and businesses.
Great to see 10000 members, but like everyone else I wish more used the forums.

Yes, links for businesses is a good idea too.

Another idea along those lines, a part of the forum where stores (or potential stores) can post (but not advertise) about what people want and such. Basically removing the "You may not publish or discuss any information regarding your product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services you are, or have been, associated with." rule in that part of the forum.

We had a long talk yesterday about the forums here, and what we want to do with it. Although not in complete agreement we do have some pretty cool ideas for what could be done to try to integrate more.

Keep in mind that a lot of people are simply not interested in participating, but will rather just consume information. 10k users will never be 10k contributors :P

Right now we're involved in some major projects, so I can tell you for sure it wont happened in the near future. But I hope we can see something like what we discussed yesterday after the workload lets up.

I think a lot of people use pricespy for great product searches and lists and for help they use things like Press F1. Looking at what is in the under development section, pricespy looks like it may become a site which people other than techs may use.

I barely used pricespy maybe 1.5 years ago but sure remember all the bashing of the new look of the site, which was pretty much the only discussion on the forums, pretty sure this was before i got into the forum side of it.
