Because they're the only PSU's with hybrid passive fan control, all-black cables, and Platinum efficiency. If I felt like ripping my fingers up sleeving again I'd go with a Silverstone.

Also if I'm spending money on watercooling, having an audible PSU would completely negate the acoustic benefits.
True enough. And well worth the extra price in my opinion.

Assuming that someone else doesn't buy it... But in saying that, I think that it is very possible that no one else would buy it – 6970s are last-gen cards after all!

Would much rather get a big SSD than a Watercooled setup for the time being!

Or two medium capacity (e.g. 256GB) SSDs in RAID0. :)

Personally I'd buy on $/GB rather than anything else.

Rich folks! ;P

840 Pro performance gain isn't worth the dough.

Unless, you got a good deal on 'em. :D

PS. Linux got a point there as many gamers (me included) wouldn't feel the difference in performance. Hence, the $/GB is a more important criteria besides reliability and etc.

Nah they really aren't worth it. And there is still a price premium for them which sucks heaps!

Turns out Amazon have the 840 Pro 256 for like ~300 shipping to NZ at the moment.

So I am beginning to find my only dislike to a mATX case is that I can't stick a 480mm Rad in it :(

Good move. Better than when they decided to incorporate the 'crop circles' into their designs. lol

What about dealing with warranties and stuff? That's the only reason why I'm not buying from overseas.

Good move indeed, but if anything a little late with Haswell just around the corner. Unless Haswell also uses thermal paste rather than solder too.

And there is only one slight problem with their statements: it is possible to de-lid older CPUs like Sandy Bridge. You "just" have to heat them appropriately to melt the solder (I don't know if they're also glued down or not).

Hey,

This is the case I have - http://www.coolermas...product_id=6640

What do you think if I want to setup a W/C loop in this? Only looking at cooling the CPU. Looks like I could fit a 120mm system in. Best place to mount the radiator?

I know there are better cases out there which are more suited to w/c - I want to see what I can squeeze out of this - Selling this case will be a hassle im for-seeing already.

Here are pics of it now:

The Links don't seem to be working for me sadly...

I would just go for an Antec Kuhler 620... Sure its closed loop, but you're not going to get anything other than a 120mm in there... Unless you mod the top of the case...

Really? They seem to work fine just now.. try again?

Yeh I thought about modding the top.. hmm.. Need to plan and draw something up.

Posted 02 April 2013 - 10:26 AM

Yup they are working fine now...

There does look to be room for a 240, maybe a 30mm thick rad?

Anyways... Just google 240 rad cutout... Should give you a pdf that you can print out. There was one on the Koolroom website (Aussie watercooling specialist) but I can't find it for the life of me.

Cool bro thanks alot, I will attack google today

EDIT - http://www.aquatunin...l-Schablone.pdf

Hows this?

I take it that a 240mm radiator will come with a mounting bracket, which I screw into the case, and attach the actual radiator to the mounting plate?

Sorry if that sounds stupid - I usually work on my cars, so modding the case is a new for me - but seems pretty simple.

EDIT #2 -

Thats pretty straight forward.

Not necessarily... You can buy a mounting bracket though.

Literally if you cut that shape into the top you can either screw in two fans on top or screw the rad straight into the case itself... For sure people may want some kind of grille over that part but I guess it comes down to the individual person...

Yeah I know, the watercooling gear is also expensive though.

You could get a pump from TW for the same price. I've seen D5's w/ dresskits for less than that too.

He has a mod kit and pom top i think. What would be the most to pay for all 3 of them including shipping in nzd?
